July 2021 Board Meeting
This week, the FINRA Board of Governors will hold its third meeting of 2021. As is often the case for our mid-year Board meeting, this meeting will revolve around a series of strategic discussions in lieu of a full schedule of committee meetings and a review of rule proposals. Select high-level discussions for this meeting will include how our industry is evolving, retail self-directed trading, digital assets, arbitration, and diversity and inclusion.
This meeting will be the last for four governors: Kathy Murphy, Charles Plosser and Amy Webber—who are vacating appointed seats on the Board—and Brian Kovack, who is vacating a mid-sized firm seat that will be decided via an election later this summer. The Nominating and Governance Committee of the Board is scheduled to meet to continue discussions around the important task of identifying successors for those three appointed seats. No other committees are scheduled to meet.
More information regarding the Board’s operations, including the membership and responsibilities of its committees, is available on FINRA’s governance page at www.finra.org/governance.
Sincerely,
Robert W. Cook
