I use inverse etfs to hedge my portfolio. Similar to long only etfs, it allows short position across a broader spectrum than a single stock short position. In my circumstance, understanding and managing the risks of utilizing an inverse etf are a much better way to manage downside risk than the complexity of shorting individual stocks.
Buying these funds isn't any different from investing in high beta stocks, and I'd argue it's actually safer than doing so by focusing on a basket of stocks in a certain sector than only one. It's also safer than trading options, which is what people will be forced to do if they can't trade leveraged ETFs.
I am currently using the SQQQ and SPXU 3x leveraged inverse funds to protect my stock portfolio during this market downturn. The SPY is down 14.11% and the QQQ is down 23.64% from their highs. My stock portfolio is down only 12.18% from my high. The 3x leverage allowed me to start later from the highs and use less funds for portfolio protection. Otherwise I would have had to sell more of my
Please leave it up to us individuals to decide which investments we choose. Having the option and ability to choose leveraged ETFs has been immensely helpful to me. For example, during this month of April while stocks / markets have generally been in a noticeable decline, I've been able to protect my portfolio investing in leveraged inverse ETFs that has resulted in my portfolio having
The whole market is obviously being manipulated blatantly. This is unacceptable stocks like GME, AMC, MMAT and plenty others are being torn down by these manipulations, the media and fake accounts on social media and investment platforms bashing the stocks. Pay attention to this and you'll see it all
Synthetic shares need to be penalized and/ or outlawed. Additionally, dark pool trading needs to be stopped. Brokerages that constantly short stocks should be required to reconcile at market value no later than 15 days following the first FTD prior to being allowed to trade openly on that stock.
I think it's apparent that you know what's going on here with AMC & Gamestop and many other stocks. I just want my voice to be heard and many others do as well. The short sellers have dug a deep hole for themselves, why are they continuously being helped out? How is it fair? This is supposed to be a fair market place. There should be a limit on how long you have to short a stock
Regarding the stocks $AMC and $GME: There must be more transparency about short positions. There should be no self reported data from any entity, there must be a third party overseer. The loop holes regarding short positions and failed to deliver shares (FTD’s) need to be closed. These positions should be made to be paid out and the idea that hedge funds can hide positions in OTM positions or
Thank you for allowing the opportunity to post feedback and make recommendations to make the system fair for all traders. I feel that short interest should be reported intraday. If a stock price can be updated within milliseconds then this should be possible too. I also feel that large institutions that have over 100,000 of any stock should have to report their short positions pre and post market
I do not initiate any investments on margin. I use my own funds for investing in leveraged etfs. If a firm wants to provide leverage for me with their investment vehicle, I should have the right to utilize it without any interference from your organization. The last time I checked, this is still a free country, although sliding into the abyss, rapidly thanks to organizations like yourself. It is
