Why should an investor undergo special (unfavorable) treatment if they invest against the market? Leveraged and inverse investments provide a sensible way to hedge one's portfolio. I am self taught in the domain of investment finance. The extent of formal financial education were a handful of economics classes and an accounting class in college. Year to Day, I am beating the S&P500 in my self-directed brokerage account because I taught myself how financial markets work with various resources publicly available.

My right to invest should never be restricted by the government. The government should focus on requiring the funds to give visibility to their holdings and cost of leverage. The government should not be qualifying who has the right to invest or disrupting my ability to invest with barriers that favor certain investors over others.
Leveraged and inverse funds are important part of my investment strategies. I believe in long term dividend holdings and use leverage and inverse funds to help protect portions of my investments. I shouldn't have to go through any specialized processes like taking a test or proving my investment knowledge.

I should be able to choose whichever investment I want. Its my money, I should be able to choose what I want to do with it. The leveraged and inverse funds in question are clearly described in their prospectuses and the funds behave as described. No regulation is necessary.
