We are adults, not children, and have the right to invest as we see fit. Owning individual stocks is way more risky than a leveraged etf tracking an index. When a stock such as Netflix can lose 75% of its value, do you propose banning individual stocks? Let people choose!
Shorting stocks is critical for markets to operate with maximum liquidity. Leverage that is speculation that fuels shorting stocks. Many investors dont have available funds in their trading accounts to short stocks directly. Leveraged shorting allows better gains than otherwise. Please keep inverse leveraged funds available for trading
Leveraged index funds are similar to buying individual stock in terms of risk. If leveraged index funds are taken away, then investing in individual stocks should be as well. Members of the public do not have to go through any special procedures to buy publicly traded stock, nor should they have to for leveraged index funds.
Please just enforce whatever it is you’re going to change. The manipulation we see on a daily bases with certain stocks is ridiculous. just do away with shorting a stock all together… why [REDACTED] does a stock need to be shorted?
I should be able to buy any stock offered publicly and not be required to take any special tests unless I decide to become a broker myself. I know the risks associated with owning any stocks and leveraged or inverse funds really don't pose anymore risk than owning any other stock. This is a free country and I want it kept that way.
I don't agree with this regulation. If you want to restrict the risk, why do you stop for option trading? Also many penny stocks and starting company stocks are more volatile and risky than leverage stocks. Investors need to have variant ways to trade to make profits and hedges. There is no way to regulate our freedom of trading.
Removing an investment option from public investors is not inline with free market ideals that the American stock market was built on. With regulations on what is allowed to be bought and sold by the public hindered it could erode trust in the American stock market. A good example would be how the Chinese stock markets are partially government controlled and therefore the citizens are not
It is the investors duty to make sure they perform they fulfill their due diligence on the stocks they are going to invest. Most of the trading platforms warn the investor about the nature and volatility risks of these stocks already. There is no need for extreme oversight as such. They should put these regulations in action for the gambling industry if they want to protect the consumers/retail
I oppose restrictions on my right to invest. Its my money after taxes and it is our right and decision to in invest in public funds. Whatever type of funds they might be. I have been investing for many years. I prefer to invest in funds with basket of different stocks in the fund rather than in an individual stocks. In my opinion, investing in individual stocks is very risky.
Banning these trades would make no sense. What is the difference between this and micro stocks? Or putting all of your portfolio into a weekly option. Any stock can go to zero. Everything has risk and reward. And the timing behind this when they are in a downdraw like thr entire market is ludicrous. If you ban this you need to ban all stock trading.
