Markets go up and down. There should be easily accessible options to invest in both trends. Walling off "short" products or creating a maze of (additional) regulation does not help the average investor, it hinders them. As a matter of fact, an argument can be made that some of the more liquid, unleveraged short products should be offered in 401k platforms, giving participants maximum
I agree with these changes. Short interest should be reported daily. Synthetic shorts absolutely need to be accounted for! These changes should be implemented ASAP. Not necessarily all at once . We need full transparency in the market! And why is HFT allowed to exist in dark pools? It’s pure market manipulation! Thank you!
A breakdown per market maker of short positions as well. More transparency of, or doing away with, dark pool transactions. When stocks are going 50+% through dps on a daily basis, that is not in keeping with the purpose. Short positions vs percentage of capital for accounts. A daily, dedicated transcript of increase/decrease per shorts/float.
Its clear that you guys understand that big intuition shape market sentiment, that is why it has been required for big institution to report when they take a long position in any company, it is beyond absurd that the same requirements are not in place when a large intuition takes a massive short position. Going forward, it should be a requirement that short positions be reported on a daily basis
There are lots of rules. Few are enforced. There are lots of fines, but none that actually deter illegal market practices. Enforce and fine accordingly with imprisonment and insolvency. No more illegal manipulation thru dark pools, no more illegal shorts and fraudulent shares, no more hiding short positions, no more kicking ftds down the road.

The number one reason I don't like the Short Sellers is because they are hurting the USA economy. The shorts sellers to me personally are the biggest scammers in the history of the world. They need to pay the bill to everyone including the US economy
What the world saw in the final week of January 2021 was the cartelization of speculators who specialize in selling short stocks and options in the American capital markets. Whether or not this association's formation was premeditated or ad hoc is irrelevant to the events that unfolded and are continuing to unfold in relation to the impending implosion, real or perceived, of the system that
Inverse fund products provide a necessary alternative to shorting an over-valued security while minimizing the risk with a direct short of a security. Additionally, leveraged products are an alternative to margining ones account, which can lead to margin calls. Lastly, most brokerages have internal controls to limit individual's exposure to any risks that may be associated with
