Restrictions need to be placed on shorts to prevent overleverage ASAP especially to the degree that AMC is right now. If any normal person to out a loan and over leverage it banks would be at our throats to receive their money. Why is it treating any different with short sellers. The act of bankrupting a company without full transparency of all positions should be illegal.
There needs to be regulations and laws put in place to separate market makers from those able to make trades in the market. How is it a free market when retail investors clearly have a disadvantage compared to hedgefunds. People are losing hope in the market, especially because of what you’re allowing to happen with heavily shorted stocks such as AMC and GME.
The problems are numerous first of all the dark pools account for 60% of transactions that way price doesn't go up when people buy. Also short positions never have to cover because they hide them in deep in the money options and just kick the can down the road. You can see examples with stocks fail to deliver and being on the threshold list - it matters not they never cover and get away with
Why are we not doing anything about the naked shorting happening AMC? seriously is obviously not a priority for any of the top regulating officials and it’s sad. What if it were to happen to you or any of your kids, meaning if somebody was cheating you or your kid out of their hard earned money. Just sucks because this question and comments may not get anywhere.
I JUST WANT THE RULES TO BE ENFORCED FOR ONCE. YOU GUYS ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THE RETAIL INVESTOR. What is happening behind closed doors is unbelievably evident. THEY ARE OVERLEVERAGED yet have not been called. AMC retail investors own the float and they continue to borrow shares they find somewhere. How can you claim to be for us when their penalties are a slap on the wrist. please protect us.
I would like to see better enforcement of the short sale rule (SSR). There have been days where the SSR was triggered on AMC but then the next day I’ve seen multiple red candles following red candles and that goes to show that the SSR rule is not in fact being enforced because you can only short on upticks (green candles) and not continue shorting on downticks.
Need to stop Citadel with being a market maker and shorting hedge fund. Isn’t this a conflict of interest. I have been in stock market only for 6 months but amount of manipulation that I’m seeing is unbelievable for GME and AMC. Even being on the threshold list for 13days they are still not covering and kicking can down the road. All I ask is more transparent and stop the naked shorting.
I am opposed to regulations limiting investors ability to trade and invest in leveraged and inverse funds. Most brokerage firms already have safe guards in place to protect uneducated and unsophisticated investors, such as income and investment limits, and warning labels. Seriously - you have just as much risk in investing in Bitcoin - or AMC !! Or trading on margin !! These leveraged funds
Leverage etfs do not represent any more risk than the basic inherent nature of stock market. How does a market pricing of NFLX at 600 and going down to $180 in a short order ( or price of AMC going up and down without rhyme and reason) present less risk than a leverage ETF. The whole premise of SEC is wrong. Stock market is a manipulated market and a by product of so many countervailing forces.
WE NEED TRANSPARENCY! All shorts must be documented and reported immediately! Also, this idea that you can short a stock by shorting a ETF is stilly. To get an idea of what needs to change, take a look at Citadel's shorting of AMC. All that needs to stop. We need to know EXACTLY how much has been shorted and the return dates. Stop the fleecing of retail traders asap!
