As someone who regularly and frequently invests in publicly traded securities it is my view that the federal government and its agencies do not have the right to tell individual investors what we can and cannot invest our money in. How or when I invest my assets is my decision and should not be limited by anyone. Federal regulators cannot know or understand the individual investors risk tolerance or financial conditions better than the individual investor. Comon advice regarding investing has long been to do your own research and know what you're investing in. Today more than ever there is easy access to information and educational resources for everyone. It is the responsibility of the investor, not the government, to decide which financial instruments are appropriate and when and how those financial instruments are to be used. The government has no right to tell me how to manage my portfolio.
