Sure, prevent illegal things like pump and dumps, ponzi schemes, and boiler rooms, but do them withold the opportunity to make a reasonable decision on what I can or cannot do with my money because you don't think I'm worthy, smart enough, or rich enough already to do so. Personal responsibility is important, and if I'm wrong, I have to live with that, not you. You're not my mother, so stop acting like it.
