I am totally opposed as an American citizen to have FINRA regulators in essence restrict my right to invest in leveraged and inverse funds. It's one thing to protect American citizens from scams and shady financial dealing; it's another thing to start regulating the amount of risk I can assume.
Forcing me to take a test and prove my ability to invest in these types of securities is overly restrictive. I don't need to be treated like a child. I have used these types of funds to hedge my longer-term investments, rather than use options that are far risker in that they are volatile and expire.
This is alarming! We need protections in the capital markets, not more regulation to stifle what should be free markets.
