PLEASE do not take away ordinary retail investors' right to trade these products. There is an inherent risk in any investment. People who participate in the market should be able to assess for themselves what level of risk they want to take on. If they don't want the risk, there are plenty of other vehicles to trade. Most importantly, these products are the only way ordinary investors can hedge their portfolios on the downside. Most people do not have the financial means to have a futures account where they can short an index, or they don't have the account type (a taxable account) where they enable margin and short a stock, etc... PLEASE allow the market to be free for people to choose how to invest. If they lose an excessive amount, that is sometimes the best way to learn the lesson. God knows I have done this in the past.
