It's just come to my attention that there is a proposal to impose restrictions on my ability to trade publicly traded securities that may come in the form of testing, having a certain net worth, getting special approval from my broker, having read certain materials or being subject to "cooling off periods" while investing.
I am an intelligent, volitional human being who has the grey matter necesary to weigh my own risks and rewards for myself and accept the consequences of having done so. I do not need to be saved from my own self. Where does it end? Will I also be required to take these measures to buy a state lottery ticket because I can't be trusted to realize my chances of getting hit by lightening are much greater than winning?
Please let me be a grown-up and make my own decisions.
