I am a retail investor with a working knowledge of markets and the economy. I take it upon myself to be educated and enjoy the freedom that provides me to handle my own financial affairs. While I do understand the need for basic regulation of the market and its professional participants, I summarily reject the premise of restricting my ability to succeed, or fail, based upon my own financial decisions. In fact, I strongly believe that this component is critical to the proper functioning of our markets, and economy, as a whole.
Today, I respectfully request that FINRA reconsider its potential decision to further regulate retail investing activity. I would be more comfortable with governmental meddling in the marketplace if it was able to demonstrate the basic, fundamental concepts of fiscal responsibility. How, in good conscience, can a regulatory agency support a case for limiting a citizens' ability to control their financial destiny when the government's own financial affairs are horribly in the Red? I have a hard time taking advice and guidance on my personal investments from an entity who's normal is operating at a loss.
