I think this regulation is both unfair and unnecessary. It is unfair because it implies a change in the rules of the game. Investors who have been implementing strategies using leveraged products will be unable to fully execute their strategies. This is my case, and Im a long term investor.
On the other hand, I think the regulation is unnecessary because investors should know and understand the risks they are running when investing. That is true to any investment strategy, not only those based on leveraged products. This regulation is an attack to the spirit of free markets. If it goes through, whats next? Restricting people from investing in stocks?
