While the situations cited in Regulation 22-8 (involving money loss by trusting individuals) surely are disheartening, imposing regulations on the general public is not the answer. When I began trading in complex investmentments online, a warning appeared before I could purchase and I had to sign paperwork stating that I understood the risks. I feel this is sufficient. Perhaps clear education can be made AVAILABLE (not made mandatory) to the public.
Education is the far more prudent response in this matter--NOT restrictions on all to protect the few. It is reasonable that those in a position to make decisions on behalf of clients should demonstrate adequate understanding of the product(s) they are dealing with; however, this should be the individual companies' responsibility to properly train their agents. I am strongly opposed to the restrictions proposed! I should be free to invest as I choose. Thank you for your consideration.
