To whom it may concern at the Financial Industry Regulation Authority,
I am aware that you are planning to ban the ability of some citizens of this country to be able to invest in complex investment funds such as leveraged and inverse investments. I believe that I should be who decides how I invest my money and not a government agency who does not know me or how or why I invest in these funds. As a government agency, you have no risk in how I make or lose my money. If I make money, I pay my taxes on the gains and the federal government gains. If I lose money, I take my losses. I have money in the stock market. I wish to keep my money there, but as we have seen lately, the stock market drops. That is why I use an inverse fund to protect my stock holdings. I further understand that your definition of complex investments that could be banned are many such as commodity funds, emerging market funds, global real estate funds, currency funds and quite a few others. Many of these funds exist in 401k and 457 plans as well as pension funds. Banning or constricting the use of all or any of these investment vehicles will cause financial stress and losses to countless individual investors and investment fund companies. I hope that you would reconsider your plans. Thank you.
