I, and investors like me, are fully capable of reading and comprehending the prospectus of any ETF, leveraged or otherwise, and making a decision about how to invest our own money in these products. This is a decision that I(we) should be in charge of. Period.
Primarily, I use leveraged index funds to enhance the long term returns on my investments. I do not invest money that I cannot afford to risk losing. Furthermore, the risk of loss is present in any singular security. We investors understand that risk, and do not wish to see restrictions placed on our ability to choose what we are allowed to invest in. If you aren't planning on placing the same restrictions on any of the outlandish growth equities that seem to go whichever direction the wind is blowing, surely you cannot proceed with the ones being considered for these leveraged/inverse funds.
