I regularly invest in leveraged funds (and less regularly, but not never, in inverse funds), and find it ludicrous that I might have to jump through a bunch of hoops to invest in publicly traded, already approved funds, and unacceptable that there might be periods during which I'm not allowed to invest. They're a small but important part of my overall investment strategy, and I'm quite aware of how they work and their drawbacks.
