Anonymous Comment On Regulatory Notice 22-08

ProShares, a purveyor of leveraged ETFs among other "complex products", is canvassing its shareholders to submit public comments here. I am one such shareholder, but personally I'm glad that FINRA is helping to protect investors from the pitfalls of complex products, which, as the notice rightly states, can be dangerous to the uninformed. Increasing the barrier of entry to these products (within reason!) may hurt ProShares's ability to sell their products and may increase broker-dealers' cost of doing business, but it poses little inconvenience to me personally and helps protect less informed investors, so I'm all for it. To ProShares: I don't appreciate being recruited to join what can only be described, after reading some of the other comments posted here today, as a spam brigade. I'm sure FINRA regulators have better things to do than read 5000 variations of "muh freedom!!11!1". To the authors of said comments: lighten up. Clicking through some disclaimers on your brokerage's website isn't going to kill you.
