Washington, D.C. — The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced today that it has fined AXA Advisors, LLC, $1.2 million for failing to adequately supervise its fee-based brokerage business and distributing misleading sales literature for its fee-based brokerage account program, CapAdvantage, between 2001 and 2005.
Washington, DC—A new national survey shows American investors have significant and widespread anxiety about the security of their investments, particularly as it relates to their retirement savings. More investors report that they are anxious about losing money on their investments (78 percent) and saving for retirement (73 percent) than are anxious about losing their job (50 percent), buying a house (42 percent) or paying for college (35 percent). Only serious health problems were ranked above investment concerns in the survey.
Washington, D.C. — The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced today that it has named Julie Bauer as its Vice President for Government Relations.Bauer comes to FINRA after a 17-year career with the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), where for the last five years she served as Vice President for Government Relations and headed CBOT's Washington, D.C., office. She is a 1990 graduate of the University of Virginia and received her master's degree in American Government from Georgetown University in 1993.
Washington, D.C. - The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced today that it has fined Morgan Stanley DW Inc. (now known as Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated) $1.5 million and ordered the firm to pay more than $4.6 million in restitution for rule violations relating to the sale of corporate bonds to retail customers at excessive prices. The firm was cited for charging excessive mark-ups in more than 2,800 transactions and for having an inadequate supervisory system for monitoring the pricing of corporate fixed income securities sold to customers.

Washington, DC and New York, NY — The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) today announced that it has commenced operations as the largest non-governmental regulatory organization for securities brokers and dealers doing business in the United States. FINRA was created through the consolidation of NASD and the member regulation, enforcement and arbitration operations of the New York Stock Exchange. The consolidation, which was announced on Nov. 28, 2006 and approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 26, 2007, became effective today, July 30, 2007.
