Bond Facts Help

Overview

Effective May 18, 2018, FINRA Rule 2232(e) will require FINRA members to provide a reference to a FINRA-hosted Web page with every bond trade confirmation. The page will contain publicly available TRACE trade data for the traded security. In the case of electronic confirmations, the reference should be in the form of a hyperlink.

Link Construction

The link construction for the bond trade confirmation should use following format:

  • http:‌//bondfacts.finra.org/<CUSIP9>

where <CUSIP9> is the CUSIP for the security.

FINRA’s Market Data Center

FINRA's Market Data Center  is a site designed to assist investors with market and investment research, both through the market data information provided as well as through the FINRA Investor Education material and tools. The Market Data Center is one of the few public, investor websites where investors can gain access to information on recent bond transactions; with a specific focus on TRACE-reportable securities (Corporate bond, Agency Bonds, and Securitized Products).
Initially, the Bond Facts URL will direct users to the CUSIP-specific page on the existing Market Data Center.

FINRA’s Bond Facts

In the coming months, FINRA will introduce a new investor-focused bond website called FINRA Bond Facts. This new site will combine bond-specific data, including recent trade data, with bond education materials.
Firms will not have to update the links on their confirmations when this new site is introduced.  FINRA will automatically redirect the bondfacts.finra.org web site from the existing Market Data Center to the new Bond Facts web site.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is Bond Facts redirecting me to MSRB’s EMMA website for some CUSIPS?
    • When FINRA is able to identify the CUSIP entered as a municipal security, we will direct the user to MSRB’s EMMA website to assist firms with compliance with MSRB Rule G-15 changes, a similar rule requiring firms to provide a “deep link to EMMA” on customer confirmations for municipal security transactions (effective May 14, 2018).
  • Why is Bond Facts’ search unable to find my CUSIP?
    • Please verify that the CUSIP you are entering is a valid 9 digit CUSIP.
  • Why does the Bond Facts’ search indicate that my CUSIP is not valid.
    • CUSIPS provided to Bond Facts should be nine (9) characters. Valid characters are digits (0-9) and alphabet characters (a-z, A-Z). The search is case independent.
